Klein & Charlie Trotter
Roxanne
Klein has emerged as one of America's most influential chefs,
and her restaurant has been called "simply the most innovative
restaurant of our time" by Gourmet Magazine. After opening
Roxanne's
in Larkspur, California, in 2001, Klein vaulted to the forefront
of the newest culinary genre through her stunning raw-food
creations. Her success in transforming the freshest locally
produced organic ingredients into innovative multicourse meals
has been recognized by virtually every major publicaion that
covers fine dining. A fifth generation Californian, Roxanne
grew up on her grandparents' organic farm and trained in some
of California's top restaurants. She advocates sustainable
living in all its forms and actively supports such organizations
as the Culinary Vegetable Institute and the Rainforest Action
Network.
Charlie
Trotter's restaurant, by the same name, has established itself
as one of the finest restaurants in the world, having been
recognized by a variety of prestigious institutions including
Relais & Chateaux
(Relais Gourmand), Mobil Travel Guide (Five Stars), and AAA
(Five Diamonds). The restaurant has received eight awards
from the James Beard Foundation, including Best Chef, Outstanding
Restaurant, and Outstanding Service. Chef Trotter is the author
of nine cookbooks, and his PBS cooking show has just launched
its third season (2003). Chef Trotter is very involved in
philanthropic activities and recently received
an award at the White House from President Bush and Colin
Powell for his work with his culinary education foundation.
