Next Item: For those who have asked about my book, Hooked on Raw, and when it will be
out Ð the editing is finished, the illustrations are finished. I am now working on eight
pages of color photographs for the book. I am also working with someone to put the book
into Quark format so that I may give it to the printers in January. The new estimate is
that the book will be out in Spring, 2000. Please hold this good thought for me. Thanks.
Next Item: I am available for private classes on raw and living food preparation. The
material to be taught will be based upon and geared to your individual needs. You will
also receive a folder with approx. 25 recipes and some excerpts from my forthcoming book,
Hooked on Raw. A 3-hour class including lunch is $100. If interested, please leave a
message at the end of this tape.
Next Item: Join the Campaign to label genetically engineered foods. All the information
you need to participate is on the internet at their website: www.
thecampaign.org/activities.htm. Please get involved to turn the tide against genetically
engineered foods. The very first step that needs to be taken is to get everything labeled
so that we and others can reject this food in the marketplace. At the present time
however, there is no way to know what you are being sold. 60% of all American-grown soy
beans are genetically engineered. A very high percentage of the corn also is genetically
engineered. The European community refused to accept our corn exports this past season.
American farmers were left with a surplus of corn they didnÕt know what to do with. It
probably ended up in processed people foods and in pet foods. I know that I saw an
advertisement for a new type of cat litter this year that IÕd never seen before and it
was billed as "the worldÕs best cat litter -- a completely natural litter made from
good, old-fashioned, whole kernel corn." It is being sold at Whiskers Holistic
PetCare in New York City. Could this be the genetically engineered corn that the farmers
got stuck with?
Next Item: The Giant Sequoia trees of California are some of the tallest and oldest
living trees on earth. Some of them are over 3500 years old, with a diameter greater than
35 feet, and heights approaching the size of the Statue of Liberty Ð over 25 stories.
More than 50% of the Sequoias left in the world are endangered by destructive logging
practices. Recently victories were won in behalf of the ancient rainforests when the Home
Depot said it will no longer purchase uncertified wood. The Temperate ZoneÕs forests are
being threatened with accelerated destruction by the loggers. The Sierra Club and other
similar groups are trying to preserve the redwoods for future generations. Last February I
was visiting northern California and I saw and experienced a huge redwood forest and it
was spectacular. One of the people in the area told me that I had been in a ÒyoungerÓ
redwood forest, meaning the trees were only a few hundred years old, as opposed to the
older forests in which the trees are thousands of years old. For anyone who has never seen
these forests, please give yourself the gift of this experience. It is awesome!
It would be a great sadness if these types of places and the wonderful energy they
provide were lost to future generations because of private corporate greed. We can do
something about it by supporting organizations, like the Sierra Club, that are fighting to
make a difference. Over the years, the Sierra Club has been instrumental in getting
effective legislation passed to protect many parts of our environment, including the
Alaska Lands Act which added 103 million acres of protected national parks, wildlife
refuges and wilderness areas, passage of the Antarctica Environmental Protection Act,
which prohibits mining in Antarctica for at least another 50 years, and The California
Desert Protection Act. The clubÕs efforts through the activism of people like you and me,
helped push passage of the EPA's new clean air standards to reduce the levels of dangerous
soot and smog in our air. The Sierra Club can be reached at (415) 977-5500. Check out
their website at: www.sierraclub.org

me, please press the star sign on your phone, wait for the beep and then leave a message.
Next Item: There are three living foods institutes I can recommend. These institutes
are set up as schools where you can learn the entire living foods program. The Ann Wigmore
Institute in Aguada, Puerto Rico, offers a comprehensive program in a very loving and
supportive atmosphere. They have classes on all aspects of health, which begin at daybreak
with Yoga by the Sea. They have luscious tropical fruits, including coconuts like youÕve
never seen in New York. You could live very happily on the coconut water, which I did for
a few days while I was there, and the coconut meat is soft like custard. This is my
favorite live food institute, because of the tropical setting and the relaxed and loving
atmosphere. Call for more information (787) 868-6307. From time to time this institute
also offers work exchange programs for those who are able to spend at least three months
there.
The Optimum Health Institute of San Diego (in California) is a 2-3 week program, but
you can go for one week also. Check-in is on Sunday. They offer a comprehemsive program
covering many aspects of health maintenance, including mental and emotional
detoxification, as well as the physical. Spiritual matters are also addressed in the
classes. Their prices are super reasonable at $400. per week shared room or $550. private.
For information and a brochure call (619) 464-3346.
The Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida, also started by Dr. Ann
Wigmore in Boston, but now run by Brian Clement, also offers a very comprehensive program.
They do Live Blood Analysis while you are there so that you can monitor the progress of
your own blood picture. This is quite fascinating and you are able to actually see with
your own eyes how the bloodstream cleans up on living food. Recommended for those that
need tangible proof. For prices and a brochure, call (561) 471-8876.
If you would like to speak with me, please leave a message after the beep.
